In February 2024, I created three vinyl covers for The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, which my dad founded in 1981. Kate Rockett, the orchestra’s director, had the wonderful idea to re-release three old recordings and asked me to design the covers. I really love how they turned out, but unfortunately, the label decided to go in a different direction. Still, this was an important assignment for me, and I’m so glad I got the chance.
I used pictures that had previously been used for the original covers and turned them into drawings, then into etchings. I wanted the albumcovers to be etchings because, just like vinyls, they come in editions: all the same but still unique.
This etching is called De speelhoek (2024). It portrays the corner of my parental home where my sister and I played games and read books and imagined other lives together when we were younger.
This is my buisness card, that I make by printing a linocut on scrap pieces of fabric.
